তিনি আরও জানান, দীর্ঘদিন ধরে তিনি চাকতাই মহল্লা ও ওসমাত উন্নয়ন সংস্থার মাধ্যমে সামাজিক কর্মকাণ্ড পরিচালনা করে আসছেন।
কাউন্সিলর না হয়েও তিনি মানুষের পাশে থাকার চেষ্টা করেছেন এবং ভবিষ্যতেও সেই ধারা অব্যাহত রাখার প্রতিশ্রুতি দেন।
জনসেবা ও সামাজিক কার্যক্রম-

আলহাজ জসিমউদ্দিন মিন্টু তার উদ্যোগে পরিচালিত বিভিন্ন মানবিক ও সামাজিক কার্যক্রমের বিস্তারিত তুলে ধরে বলেন—
ত্রাণ বিতরণ, শীতবস্ত্র বিতরণ, ফ্রি খতনা কর্মসূচি, দরিদ্র ও অসহায় পরিবারের মেয়েদের বিয়েতে সহায়তা, অসুস্থদের চিকিৎসা সহায়তা, এবং বিভিন্ন জরুরি মানবিক সহায়তা কার্যক্রম তিনি নিয়মিত পরিচালনা করে আসছেন।
তার ভাষায়, “মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়ানোই আমার মূল লক্ষ্য। কোনো পদ-পদবি নয়, বরং মানুষের ভালোবাসা ও আস্থাই আমার সবচেয়ে বড় অর্জন।”
নির্বাচন প্রসঙ্গে অবস্থান-

কাউন্সিলর নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ নিয়ে তিনি বলেন, তিনি নির্বাচনে অংশ নেওয়ার বিষয়ে আগ্রহী হলেও বর্তমান সামাজিক ও রাজনৈতিক বাস্তবতা তাকে পুনর্বিবেচনায় বাধ্য করছে। তার মতে, মাঠপর্যায়ের বাস্তবতা, প্রশাসনিক জটিলতা এবং প্রভাবশালী মহলের প্রভাব অনেক সময়
জনপ্রতিনিধিদের কার্যক্রমকে সীমাবদ্ধ করে ফেলে।

তিনি বলেন, “নির্বাচনে অংশ নিলেও মানুষের প্রত্যাশা অনুযায়ী কাজ করা কতটা সম্ভব হবে—এ বিষয়টি আমি গভীরভাবে চিন্তা করছি।”

আইন-শৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতি নিয়ে উদ্বেগ
এলাকার আইন-শৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতি নিয়ে তিনি উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করে বলেন, চাঁটাই এলাকার টেম্পো স্ট্যান্ড, বাথোহারা, সিবিসি কলোনি ও রাজাখালী এলাকায় চাঁদাবাজি, দখলবাজি, মাদক ব্যবসা, চোরাচালানসহ বিভিন্ন অপরাধমূলক কর্মকাণ্ড বেড়ে গেছে।

তার দাবি অনুযায়ী, ৫ আগস্ট ২০২৪ সালের পর থেকে এসব অনিয়ম আরও বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে, যা স্থানীয় সাধারণ মানুষের জন্য বড় ধরনের ভোগান্তির কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “আইন-শৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে সংশ্লিষ্ট প্রশাসন ও আইন প্রয়োগকারী সংস্থার আরও কঠোর ভূমিকা প্রয়োজন।”

রাজনৈতিক বাস্তবতা ও ‘হাইব্রিড’ সংস্কৃতি-
৩৫ নম্বর বকশিরহাট ওয়ার্ডে ‘হাইব্রিড নেতা’দের সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধির বিষয়টি তুলে ধরে তিনি বলেন, এতে প্রকৃত ত্যাগী ও সিনিয়র নেতারা অনেক সময় যথাযথ সম্মান ও মূল্যায়ন পাচ্ছেন না।

তার মতে, এই ধরনের পরিস্থিতি একটি সুস্থ রাজনৈতিক পরিবেশের জন্য অনুকূল নয় এবং এটি দীর্ঘমেয়াদে স্থানীয় উন্নয়নকেও বাধাগ্রস্ত করতে পারে।
প্রভাবশালী মহলের প্রভাব-

তিনি বলেন, এলাকার বিভিন্ন সমস্যার পেছনে প্রভাবশালী মহলের সম্পৃক্ততা রয়েছে। কিছু স্বার্থান্বেষী গোষ্ঠী নিজেদের অবৈধ কার্যক্রম টিকিয়ে রাখতে রাজনৈতিক পরিচয় ব্যবহার করছে। ফলে স্থানীয় উন্নয়ন কার্যক্রম ও সুশাসন ব্যাহত হচ্ছে।
তার ভাষায়, “এককভাবে এসব সমস্যা সমাধান করা সম্ভব নয়। সমন্বিত উদ্যোগ ছাড়া প্রকৃত পরিবর্তন আনা কঠিন।”
ভবিষ্যৎ পরিকল্পনা-

নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ না করলেও তিনি জানান, এলাকার উন্নয়নে তার ভূমিকা অব্যাহত থাকবে। সামাজিক ও মানবিক কার্যক্রম চালিয়ে যাওয়ার পাশাপাশি তিনি সংশ্লিষ্ট উর্ধ্বতন মহলের কাছে এলাকার সমস্যাগুলো তুলে ধরবেন এবং উন্নয়ন প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নে ভূমিকা রাখার চেষ্টা করবেন।
তিনি বলেন, “আমি নির্বাচনে থাকি বা না থাকি—মানুষের সেবায় আমার অবস্থান সবসময় একই থাকবে।”

নিজের পরিচয় তুলে ধরে তিনি জানান, তিনি একটি সমৃদ্ধ ব্যবসায়ী পরিবারের সন্তান এবং দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ব্যবসা ও সমাজসেবার সঙ্গে যুক্ত আছেন। তার কাজের স্বীকৃতি হিসেবে বিভিন্ন শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান ও সামাজিক সংগঠন থেকে তিনি সম্মাননা ও পুরস্কার পেয়েছেন।

সবশেষে তিনি বলেন, এলাকার জনগণ তাকে কাউন্সিলর পদে দেখতে চাইলেও তিনি ব্যক্তিগত ও বাস্তব বিবেচনায় সিদ্ধান্ত নিচ্ছেন।

Alhaj Jasim Uddin Mintu, a prominent businessman, president of Chhatai Moholla Development Committee, and potential councillor candidate, shared his detailed views in a recent exclusive interview regarding the upcoming local council election, the current law and order situation, development challenges, and his personal stance on contesting the election.
In the interview, he stated that people from all walks of life in the locality—especially businessmen, youth groups, and professionals—have long been encouraging him to participate in the councillor election. According to them, his leadership could further accelerate development initiatives and strengthen public service activities in the area.

He also mentioned that he has been actively involved in social welfare through Chhatai Moholla and Osmat Development Organization for a long time. Even without holding an elected position, he has consistently worked for community welfare and intends to continue doing so in the future.

Public Service and Social Activities
Alhaj Jasim Uddin Mintu highlighted various humanitarian initiatives undertaken under his leadership.
These include relief distribution, winter clothing distribution, free circumcision programs, financial assistance for marriages of underprivileged families, medical support for the sick, and other charitable activities.

He added, “Even if one contests the election, it may not always be easy to deliver results according to public expectations.”

Concerns Over Law and Order
He expressed concern about the law and order situation in the area, stating that in locations such as Tempo Stand, Bathohara, CBC Colony, and Rajakhali, activities like extortion, land grabbing, drug trade, and smuggling have reportedly increased.
According to him, these issues have become more pronounced after August 5, 2024, creating significant challenges for local residents.
He further noted that stronger action from law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities is essential to restore order.
Political Reality and “Hybrid Leaders”

Referring to the rise of so-called “hybrid leaders” in Ward No. 35, Baksirhat, he said that the presence of such figures has made it difficult for senior and dedicated leaders to maintain respect and proper recognition.
In his view, this situation is not conducive to a healthy political environment and may hinder long-term local development.

Influence of Powerful Groups
He also pointed out that certain issues in the area are linked to the involvement of influential groups. Some vested interests, he claimed, use political identities to protect illegal activities, which ultimately hampers governance and development efforts.

He stated, “These problems cannot be solved alone. Without coordinated efforts, meaningful change is difficult.”

Future Plans
Even if he does not contest the election, he affirmed that he will continue contributing to the development of the area. He plans to remain active in social and humanitarian work and will also raise local issues with higher authorities to help facilitate development initiatives.
